the way i did it was just dive right into landing heavies. use the virtual glideslope (?). this displays your path towards the ground. as you get more confident, turn the virtual glideslope off, and just use your instruments.
before getting rid of FS, I could manually land a 757 on the centerline, everytime. for your reference, i usually hit the runway between 145-155kts. i have no idea if that is real world correct, but it seemed to work a treat in FS.
what you could also do is create a flight that just involves landing. by that i mean, set up a VFR flight, and as you begin you approach, save the flight, and after you land just repeat the landing again and again. remember and mix your weather up a bit also.
