YellowRose....I had the same question as you.

I downloaded some airplane that had a lot of paints available for it.

But I didn't know how to apply them.

Downloaded a Camberra something (?) where the author was kind enough to walk you thru the process of adding his skins to his plane.

I learned from that.

However, there is a tutorial right here that is the same steps.

Greetings all!

Three basic rules in this situation:

- download from a reputable site like Simviation
- the downloads usually have a readme (which can unfortunately be more or less comprehensive) which tells you how to do it
- if all else fails, ask here, providing the reference to the file concerned and what the specific problem is, so that people can help you out - and they will!

OK I have it, you mean the D-Day C-47 file,
Unzip the file, you have a folder called D-day C-47, open this file and copy the texture, only the texture and paste it into the DC-3 Aircraft folder in your FS2004 Sim.

Example, Programme Files/microsoft games/Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft/Douglas DC-3,

Once you have the C-47 texture folder in the DC-3 folder go back to the download file C-47 this time go to the Read Me text and copy the Texture discription Example,
[Flt. sim xx]
title = Douglas DC-3 Easy Company- 101st  Airborn
copy the rest of the text and go back to your DC-3 folder in your FS9 Aircraft, this time open the Aircraft CFG file, Select Wordpad, and the text of all your DC-3 aircraftwill show, paste in your C-47 description and change the [Flt sim xx] to the next number on the Descriptions listed ,save when prompted and that should be it.

I hope i have not confused you, maybe someone can give a better explanation with more Examples, when you have done it a few times its easy belive me, I am no expert.. Good luck

Okay, one more time.

Did you at least read the tutorial ?

I'll try to write it simpler.

You download a repaint called "texture1" that comes in its own folder called "texture1".

Copy the folder texture1 into the airplane's folder that you want to add the texture to.  I assume your airplane folder has only one texture folder in it called...what else "texture".

Open up the aircraft.cfg file.

Highlight and copy the entire section of [FLTSIM.0]

Paste it after the last FLTSIM number in your aircraft.cfg file (assuming you have no other textures in there already, it will be after [FLTSIM.0]).

Change [FLTSIM.0] to [FLTSIM.1] in your now copied lines.

Change the red highlighted lines as shown in the tutorial.

Or just change the line that says texture= to texture=1.

Now just SAVE it.

You should change the other recommended lines also, .........

but that will at least get you to see the new added texture.

The tutorial is correct.....but takes too many words to say what I just said.

ps - sorry Sam,..we both posted at the same time

[color=red]If you're talking about the D-Day paint, here's what's in the readme file.

This author made it simple for you.
