Zip File Extraction on XP

Postby sammach » Tue Feb 26, 2008 4:25 am

Hello,
As anyone had a problem extracting files , I refer to the Canberra BI8 Pack for on Page 166 FS2004 Military, I have downloaded all the Canberra`s in the 5 pack all is well except for Pack 4 the BI8, the file downloads ok but the extraction proceeds for a time then an error message comes up and the extraction stops. Any one any ideas

I tried extracting the zipfile with several different utilities. One file appears to be corrupt. I got this error report from WinRAR.

!   C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\Desktop\cnpk4801061.zip: CRC failed in PACK.04\PD_ Canberra_PK4_B(I)_F\texture.005\CN_LF.bmp. The file is corrupt

Hello Hagar
Thaks for your prompt reply I have been in touch with the author of the programme he thought he had fixed the problem, I think the problem is in the Fuel Model, the one with the wing tip tanks. I will notify of any answers

...mm...well I have WinXP Sp2 as my OS and as many of you will already know you don't HAVE to use an Unzip "Wizard to extract files from a Zip.....

OPEN the Zip by double clicking like a normal folder and Drag the folders to the desktop or a temporary folder.

In this case there is just one file which won't cooperate and that is the CN_LF.bmp as identified by Hagar.......

This is for the left side textures in a couple of aircraft ...depends how desperate you are to have these aircraft and if you are willing to spend  just a little time doing the job ....it takes a few minutes (and a bit of expertise) to change  a copy of the right side texture...CN_RF.bmp and save it as CN_LF.bmp..........to complete the package........

All good fun but if you don't think it worth the bother then that's up to you...........commoner ;)

Thanks for your info, however I am afraid i do not understand the procedure you described, the file effected is the BI-8 fuel version, I would like to sort this, as I once worked on the BI-8, and so far I have never seen that Canberra on any other site, maybe you could point me in a direction. I may have to live with this as I have four ac on my sim, but i could not load the repaints from, CBA site. Thanks for your time and interest. I am in contact with the author he has been very helpful and is working on a fix. I will keep you posted

First of all I found that it is possible to extract the zipfile with ALZip. You can download it here. --> http://www.altools.com/Downloads/ALZip.aspx

As commoner said, the corrupt texture will only affect 2 variations of the aircraft. That is the Canberra B(I).Mk 12 of  RNZAF (12 Sqd) with & without tanks. All other 10 variations should work without modification.

Hi again....suggest you get and install the ALZip utility that Hagar has kindly linked to..........then install the files and you will find the two A/c which are affected with a rather weird left side paint job........

If you PM me your email address I will send you a replacement file for the faulty one ...best I can do....commoner ;)

Thanks alot to you Hagar and Commoner you have put me on the right track, thanks to you Commoner i now know how to get files without an extraction wizard, before I was only getting 4 BI-8s in Pack 4 now I am getting them all apart from the F Pack, I am trying to get the old brain going and work out your instructions Commoner, concerning CN_LF bmp. Just give me a while to get my head round it, already you have been very helpful, I am extremely grateful I will keep you posted, thanks alot to you both

Well done...do you still want a new file for the 005 texture....CN_LF.bmp or will you make do with the one you have on the RNZAF planes?....commoner ;)

Click on commoner above my little pic (the old guy on the baseball cap) and there should be my contact info with an invite to PM this member or words to that effect..........send me your email address.........

..Once you get the file it needs to be in the 005.texture folder in the PD_ Canberra_PK4_B(I)_F folder  Unless you have DTXB utility for opening extended bitmaps you won't be able to see the contents of the file but just drag it into the folder by your favourite method.       ...commoner ;)

Just realised you can click on the PM icon below your post. This must be a new feature of Yabb 2.2.

PS. Wonder why my posts don't have that icon.
