thanks for the input lads............and Fozz. fog and other nasty stuff can come down any old time and leave you short on fuel to get to other airfields which also could be fog bound.......commoner :-/

Having spent the past 10+ years Sim-chuffing around California, I have become familiar with various "offset" Glidescopes, (RWY 16R Sacramento, etc.), whilst flying my GA Piston Props, using my Bendix-King radio stack on autopilot....and FS Navigator to show the Glidescope positions and Frequencies.
...and I still switch off my Auto-Pilot before approaching the Threshold to make a safe landing on the centre line...
Sometimes, I have very little faith in "Electronictrickery"!....
