Guide to useing 9Dragon's KaiTak AND VHHH

Postby simonmd » Fri Jan 04, 2008 4:53 pm

Instructions for using Thomas Kwong's Hong Kong 2005 scenery together with the new 2008 9Dragons KaiTak scenery.

As the two sceneries overlap each other, it is necessary to de-activate some items from each one.

Please follow these instructions CAREFULLY. This does not involve deleting or removing any files so each one can be restored to it's original state in the future if you wish to do so.

1. Open C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\VHHH\vhhh2005b\scenery

Find these files,

Excl_bridge.bgl   change to-  Excl_bridge.BAK
Excl_tungchung.bgl  change to-  Excl_tungchung.BAK
misc_objects.bgl  change to-  misc_objects.BAK
tm_aprt.bgl  change to-  tm_aprt.BAK

It should now look like this,

2. Next, open C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery

and find

VHHH_LC.bgl change to- VHHH_LC.BAK

3. Now open C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\9Dragons\scenery

And find these files,

AF2_VHHH.bgl change to- AF2_VHHH.BAK
Chek_Lap_Kok1-VTPH.bgl change to- Chek_Lap_Kok1-VTPH.BAK
Chek_Lap_Kok_LWM2.bgl change to- Chek_Lap_Kok_LWM2.BAK
Chek_Lap_Kok_OB1.bgl change to- Chek_Lap_Kok_OB1.BAK

It should now look like this,

4. Finally, don't forget to reactivate your vhhh2005b AND vhhh_tk options in the Flight Simulator Scenery Library if you've deactivated them to use 9d KaiTak.

Please note:
THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL 9Dragons UPDATE, this is to be used AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Great and well done! Made everything like you said but didn't test it, yet.

Shouldn't you also disable the ships.bgl coming from VHHH and Fireboat.bgl Firaboat2.bgl?

Also I think the clk_apartments.bgl places something in the city, but I'm unsure about this one....

Cheers and thanks again!,

No because they are part of the VHHH scenery, why would you want to loose them? The others need to be removed as they are duplicated in the KaiTak scenery.

Not sure about the clk_apartments.bgl , if anyone finds a conflict still there, let me know.

The sourrounding water around the ships doesn't match my water, so I get blue boxes around them. Or can you edit the ship's wake textures to get them transparent?

Cheers,
Fabian

I think that is just the model but not sure.

The KaiTak ships or VHHH ones? I used to have this problem with the VHHH scenery, the 'wake' is usualy made to match default water colours. Anything else and you will get that effect.

This is an FS9 limitation that cannot be worked around i'm afriad.
