Effect graphics not showing.

I've noticed recently that my effect graphics aren't showing up when they should and where they should be there are just clear blocks were the should be almost like the isn't able to read them. So what should I do.

Have you checked your graphics settings in FS? What are they? Also what graphics card and drivers are you using?

Is this affecting all effects?..or just some?

One that happens is the shoreline wave effect. If it is showing as white squares, then some add-on has replaced the '..\Effects\texture\fs_swoosh.bmp' with the file from FS2002.

You can extract the default file from CD1\MSGAME1.cab.

If it's other effects or all effects we'll have to dig further provided you can supply more specific info.

Right now I'm running fs2004 on windows vista. I don't know what the graphics card is but I think its a 256mb.

The thing is when I first got it every thing was working absolutely fine. I have it running at max special effect but it still doesn't work. None of the effects work landing smoke,Engine smoke Afterburns, airshow smoke and even the shoreline effects. So right know I'm thinking about doing a complete reinstall.

Before resorting to a reinstall, check to see if the ..\Effects\texture\ folder is still there. It should contain 22 default 'fx_*.bmp' files, plus any others you may have added thru add-ons.

My guess is that you have added something that over wrote the original effects. The default effects are on disk 1 game cab1 I believe. just unzip into any folder outside fs and than drag and drop [glow=yellow,2,300]You might want to make a backup first just in case [/glow]  8-)
