Need Help: Adding certain scenery

Postby Jersey Flyer » Sat Dec 08, 2007 2:56 am

I need help with adding scenery for Princess Juliana Int. in St. Maarten, i've followed the instructions, and when I went to my scenery library to add the file, it said it was success full, so when I restarted my FS9, it showed the "loading new scenery" screen, but when I went to go depart from TNCM, it was still the basic files. Help please?

Here is where I downloaded it from:  http://simviation.com/fs2004scenery62.htm

If you got the "loading new scenery" message it's quite likely that you installed it correctly. I just download the file to check it out but haven't installed it. According to the author's instructions you need to set the Scenery Complexity to "Extremely Dense" in order to see all the details.

It works fine for me. Extract juliana2.zip & look for a folder named Juliana. This contains 4 subfolders named AFCAD2, Fly at ST-Maarten, Scenery & Texture.
To install the scenery:

Paste the Juliana folder into the FS9\Addon Scenery folder. You will need to activate this in the FS9 Scenery Library.
Open the AFCAD2 folder & paste the contents, a file named AF2_TNCM.BGL, into the FS9\Addon Scenery\scenery folder.

To install the flights:

Paste the Fly at ST-Maarten folder into the FS9\Flights folder.

yes, I dragged the "juliana" folder into "addon scenery", and pasted the afcad content in the addon scenery folder too and put the flights in its correct place.

I think I maybe not adding the add on scenery correctly,

how exactly do you do it? Like once on on "settings-addonscenery", once im at the menu of like all the cities/places, how would I add it?

Hi....I also downloaded this and had no trouble following the Readme ......looks cool too. But  the afcad file should be in the Addon Scenery/SCENERY folder as Hagar says....you appear to have put it in the Addonscenery folder according to your last post move it and you should be fine.........

By the way I decided I didn't want to keep it and if you uninstall it you will find it has changed the scenery.fsg file.(It does warn you of this when installing)..........My sim wouldn't load until I realized it had made a back up called something like oldscenery.fsg.......I renamed that and now all is fine...commoner ;)

.......In the scenery Library....click the Add Area button....browse to the Juliana folder in the Addon Scenery folder and SELECT it (NOT open it) click OK and you will be told to restart the Sim to see the new stuff.........IF you have already made the link it will say so........ ;)

There should be no problem uninstalling this or any other 3rd party scenery providing you delete it from the Scenery Library first. This will remove the Scenery.cfg entry. This is covered in my Scenery Clinic. Remember to delete the AF2.bgl from Addon Scenery\scenery.

Thank you commoner, I got it! Thank you Haggar too, I think commoner just put it into simpiler terms, like Hagger you had the right Idea, I guess I was like thinking too hard, or just over read you're instructions.

One last question, would I put the AFCAD2 file in that same folder?

I suppose this proves that two heads are better than one, even if they're only sheep's heads. LOL ;)

Both commoner & I have already addressed this. The usual location for AF2 BGL files is in the Addon Scenery\scenery subfolder as the Addon Scenery folder is activated by default. I don't think it matters where you put them as long as the folder is activated. You could pop AF2_TNCM.BGL into the Juliana\scenery folder if you wish.
