How to download the meshes "all-in-one"?

Postby boana » Tue Dec 04, 2007 3:45 am

Hello everyone!

I know, that it is possible to download the FS9 Terrain Meshes all-in-one using a download manager.
But for that I need a list of the URL of the zip-files.

Does anyone have a list like this?

If you just put the mouse pointer over the file it'll give you the URL.
Are you looking at http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm?

Yes, I'm looking at http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm!
But. It's a lot of work to put the mouse pointer over all the files. One time, I found a list of all URLs at the internet but I've lost it.

Those could be the old URLs, we had a lot of things change when we did the system upgrade a while back. I'll have a look around for you but I can't promise anything ;)

Can I make a suggestion? I know this is supposed to be in the suggestions forum but it's about this topic. Would it not be possible to remove the 'Download this file' page just for the terrain mesh? So you can download them the moment you click the link? This way it's easier to download them all at once or a big part of them using a download manager.

Crash ;) (wasn't there a similar question a few weeks ago?)

That would be a great idea. Is it possible, only for these files?

..mm....about an 8 gig download......not sure I'd want to bother when I only fly over a limited area myself. Still that's up to the individual I guess.

It was discussed a while back...maybe you would like to see the replies....  http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1188925856/0

That would be a big chore to download. It's tempting, but after spending a week to download Andrew Weir's SRTM Mesh for Australia (32 parts) on 56K, I think I will pass on the temptation.

I read the replies on the thread given and I think Fozzer's suggestion for FS Global would suite my needs for terrain mesh and I've bookmarked it.

What i do is just select a range of files i need to get from the mesh library, say EA38 too EA45, i keep the page open on one screen with the downloads window, and from there on continuesly keep my download slots full. i managed to download the whole of indonesia in just a little more then a hour.

I tried to give you a list,
but it failed due to the filesize ;D
But here what you have to do:

Download and install the freww-ware download manager called
FlashGet
It is very good, no advertising in it, fast and with many features.
Now go on that page where all the links are (maybe reboot before).
Now rightclick anywhere in the background and click "Download All with FlashGet".
You'll get a list where you can select all files to download (use one of the button below lets you select all zip files).
Then click on OK and ........ wait.....................  ;D ;D

Good Luck!

My wireless high speed is around 500-600k usually. It does vary some depending on the time of day and atmospheric conditions (I once saw 1,700k). A 1Gig download takes roughly 6 hours so it would take me about 48 hrs to download 8Gigs. Your mileage (or download speed) may vary.  ;)

IS there any way to download the files themselves, not the download page with ads? When I use Rev's way it just downloads the "Download Now" pages (a lot of em' too! )

Thanks!
