i can try...

but no aircraft give me sound whatsoever... and the ATCer must have a bad throat or something because hes making no noise either. (probably the winter has gotten to him)

Sorry. Not sure I understand what you're up to. If you installed the sound files in that sound pack to the FS9\Sound folder as you said I suspect that is the cause of your problem.

Don't be hasty. Deleting files is not the answer. I can't see anything in that sound pack I downloaded that would cause this problem. Are you sure it's the the right one? What's this sound.dll file you said you replaced?

I'm not hinting at anything.

Now let's start again. Tell me exactly how you installed this sound pack.

alright, i downloaded the sound package to a directory i have for all FS2004 addons

after downloading i used 7-ZIP to extract the file into the same directory as where i downloaded it (i always do so i have a backup incase i need to re-get something or whatnot)

i read the ReadMe... but it didnt seem right that i would be putting sounds into that particular file (the aircraft/boeing/sound file) so i put it into the FS9 sounds folder in the main FS9 directory

i was also messing around with adding aircraft like concorde and that one that looks like concorde but is russian... because these 2 were useless as one didnt have a working MDL, and the other didnt have working gauges (the designer put everything in really nasty files so it just didnt work) i deleted these 2 aircraft files from the aircraft directory

i go on.... no sound. check settings, speakers, connections and try again... no sound. change AC, no sound.

i ask here

i put the sound.cfg from the soundpack into the 777-300's sound file, replacing its old one.

no sound

now i am here and havent tried anything else

Right. When you pasted those files into the FS9\Sound folder did you overwrite any existing files?

Before going any further you could try installing the package properly & see if that helps. Open the main folder of your 777 & rename the existing Sound folder to Sound.0 to back it up. Now paste the complete Sound folder from the extracted download in alongside it. That's the method I always use for replacing panels & sound.

i think 1 or 2 got overwritten... but i cant see why that would have caused such problems. i mean, the sounds in the folder arent ones that look like they overwrite anything important

ill try that thingymabob now

You would have overwritten only 3 default sound files.

Flaps.wav
Gearup.wav
Geardown.wav

The default sounds might be different now but I don't think that would cause your problem.

PS. Never overwrite default files without taking a backup copy.

No problem with Simviation my end.

Deleting files is not the answer. That would probably makes things worse than they already are. I suspect one or more of the other files you installed messed up your sound. A reinstall of FS9 might be the quickest solution.

hmm, and SimV has sped up again... strange

umm. well, lets just say disk 4 got KIA and i will have to do some searching to find another (getting FSX for crimbo... worth the wait?)

ill have another fiddle around... i cant exactly mess much more up. i deleted some non-music files that were in the package that were in the sound folder... not sure if the game tried to load those and found some problem with them, but we shall see

...mmm.....no idea how you got into that situation and really no ideas how you will get out of it; just like to add that I downloaded the pack and the readme is quite specific and quite simple to do. Replace the sound FOLDER in the 777-300 with the sound FOLDER supplied in the package no overwriting involved!..........couldn't be simpler and I might add it has some really great "noises" in there..........

...Back to you Hagar.............commoner ;)
