Splashscreen problem

Postby Flying Buckeye » Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:16 pm

I installed the Long ez that is available for download from this website and it replaced the default splashscreen without  asking if it could overwrite the file. I tried uninstalling the package and now i just have a black square where the splashscreen should be. How do I get the default back without reinstalling?

The splash bitmap is 'dlgsplash.bmp' in the ...\Uires\ folder. You might check to see if the install left you a backup of the file. If not.........

You can extract the file from CD#2\MSGAME3.cab\

Hi...you could download one of the "zillions" which are offered on the various websites including our own dear SimV. There are some really cool ones out there, much nicer than the default one...

Even make your own either....all you need to do is make a suitable 800x600 bitmap and name it dlgsplash.bmp....chuck it in the Uires folder as our Dave says and there you are........commoner ;)

IMPORTANT: Not 800x600!!!!! That never worked for me!!!
Make a 800x602 instead - but don't ask me why Microsft came on the idea of such a pixel number...  ;)

Just had a peek in my FS9\Uires folder. I don't remember ever changing my splashscreen. There appears to be a backup splashscreen named dlgsplash.bmp.FS9default.bmp. You could rename a copy of this to dlgsplash.bmp to fix the problem.

Both are in 800 x 602 resolution.

PS. Installing this aircraft with the auto-installer will also overwrite Uninstal.exe in the FS9 root directory. This will give problems if you ever want to uninstall FS9. Two good reasons for learning to install aircraft manually.

...mmm....never had the slightest trouble with 800x600 and over the years I have downloaded dozens and made hundreds from downloaded templates. I have three templates all of which are 800x600...whatever size I can't see that it makes any difference.......commoner ;)

This link to a tute seems to think that 800x600 os most essential.........
