Help needed with Manual

Postby harrybasset » Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:33 pm

Hi I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have a problem with some manuals, when I open them from the download I can see text OK but where the pictures should be I only get a little red cross. The manual is in htm format, the main one bugging me at the moment is a French aircraft, I can guess/muddle through the text but seeing the panel instruments would be helpful to confirm my guesses. Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi Harry. I suspect you're opening the HTM files without extracting the zipfile. Extract it to a Temp folder & then try it. The images should extract to a separate folder.

If that doesn't work tell me which aircraft this is & the page I can download it from.

Hi Hagar.

You hit the target first shot! many thanks for your help, I was using the inbuilt extractor in Windows XP, when I used Winzip the pictures appeared correctly, no more red crosses.

The aircraft in question is the MD311 Flamant by Restauravia, file available from Avsim. The Magister and Zephyr from Restauravia have their documentation in pdf format which open up fully in XP so I expected the MD311 to do the same. Another lesson learned, thanks again Hagar.

I thought that would fix it. You can extract zipfiles with the XP onboard compressed folders utility by using the right-click "Extract All" option. Then follow the Wizard using the default settings. This should extract the files in the same way as WinZip.
