Mysterios framerate in FS9

Postby Conan Edogawa » Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:31 am

Hey guys,

I've got problems with my framerate. As I bought the PC a few years ago, FS9 worked quite well with the best settings and there was no lower framerate  than at least 25 to 30 FPS, which is not bad (and in fact enough for the human eye). Now, after 2 new hard discs, a few years and several times of reinstalling Microsoft or FS9, I sometimes get framerates down to 4FPS at several airports even with the worst settings! Because I fly online on IVAO you can imagine that flying FS9 isn't fun any more!

Those things usually happen when I'm going from descent to approach (ILS is horrible with it!!). Sometimes I also have those low framerates when I'm cruising!!

You can see all my specs in my signature. The official update for FS9 is installed!

How can this be? There's enough hardware, I don't have too much programs running in background (also no programs running on startup of Windows XP).

Thanks for any suggestions,

Conan  :(

There are few add-on sceneries, but they're not on every spot of the FS9-planet. It starts to lag almost everywhere.

Doesn't matter.... that can affect EVERYWHERE if they changed a texture that is used everywhere.... and screwed it up on you.  This is a VERY common problem.

Another thing that is related to this that can cause the same symptoms is new AI airraft with screwed up livery textures... that fly all around wreaking havoc on the system.

Start uninstalling the add-ons starting with the last one you installed and working your way backwards and testing after each uninstall.

best,

...........john

Sounds like work...

I don't have any AI, because I'm flying online only.

Does something like Airport Environment or Nick's Lights cause such bad framerates?

I have noticed the same effect on my PC. When I first got it, It ran much faster and more reliably. But now, several reformats of HDDs later, I get 10-12 fps on ground at low settings. 20-25 in cruise. The only real solution is to lower settings. Oh well, I'll just get a new computer, this one is quite cruel to me, no matter how much $$$ i put into it!

There's also another effect:

When I get the panel view on ground it laggs horrible.  When I get the outside view and a view just straight to the ground within the airplane it's okay (means up to maximum 12FPS). It gets really terrible when I see the sky and all the clouds (clouds settings are already to minimums).

Is there a way to improve that performance?

When did you last clean your registry, check for spy/adware, defrag your HD?
Try all of the above, that should get things moving a little bit quicker ;)

Another thing you could try is opening your FS9.cfg and checking it isn't looking for old graphics cards before your current one, this slows up FPS sometimes. When I switched from my Ti4600 to the XL800 I had quite a few issues until I went in manually and deleted the entry for the nVidia (even when I got the machine to setup FS9.cfg newly it had the problem)!

I'm right now still in France (since last saturday), I'll see what I can do tonight when I'll be hopefully back in Hamburg again.

But the graphic card is correct in the FS9.CFG, I know that so far. The Spyware-thing... well, there I've got to look.

It's un-be-lie-va-ble!!

I'm now back in Hamburg and tried everything!! The last hours, gone just for this Microsoft Sh**!!

And the thing is: Absolutely nothing works! Sorry, but I'm really, REALLY angry right now and thinking about kicking this PC out of my window and quitting FS9 forever!! I can't stand this Microsoft-stuff ANY more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate it that you need so horribly much money just too keep your hobby or just too have enough fun!!

And now we have winter and there's not enough thermal for gliding here!

Sorry guys, but I think I sat more hours in front of a PC solving problems of PCs (what is the most part of the life of a PC-user) than having time to like them!!!!!
