Anyone using a webcam alternative to irtrack

Postby hsvfan » Thu Sep 27, 2007 10:15 pm

HI all

I have downloaded a programme called efmer which uses a webcam to track your head movements.
Is anyone here using the same software  and got efmer to work in fs9 with good results. I have been trying to set it up but just can't seem to get it centred in the virtual cockpit  its seem a good alternative to the more expensive IRTracker

Cheers

Hi guys

While I have never tried it, I have read many post in the last few years from those that have. It simply can not be made to work anywhere near as well as TrackIR.
Yes TIR is a bit expensive, but really is worth the ticket. It is supported in nearly any (flight/race) simulation type game now on the market and a large number of older games.
I would suggest you not waste too much time trying to get the camera thing to work and just buy a TrackIR unit.
If the TrackIR 4 Pro is more than you want to spend, try finding a older version on ebay or something. Though, I would recommend nothing below TIR 3. But I would strongly suggest the newest one over the TIR 3.
