DC 10 lighting

Postby Rachet1031 » Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:26 am

I just D/L the SGA DC10F (SGA30F.zip) I noticed that all the lights work except the red beacons on top and bottom of the aircarft.
I also have the DC-10-30 and they work fine in this aircraft so I compared aircraft config files and they look the same to me. Im not sure if I installed the aircraft wrong or if they just dont work, Are the lights  something that are mapped or designed by the aircraft designer. Would like to get these lights working if its something I can do.

Thanks

Almost the same....   ;)

Errors in the 'aircraft.cfg'-[Lights] section. The light effects file names are wrong for all the entries.

example: light.0=1,

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks, you would of thought I would of picked up on that. I looked at the two cfg files side by side and still didnt see it.

But that did the trick.

Thanks

...mmmm...not sure what is going on here...or just why Dave's suggestion worked for you :-/

...maybe I am missing something but that particular beacon wouldn't work on either of those two models!

...not until I changed the beacon lines to the ones in my pic.........now they work fine.

Any expaination Dave?...........commoner ;)

Commoner,

The SGA_DC-10-30.zip is the base pack and has the Effects folder with 4 light effects: DC10BCNL, DC10BCNU, DC10landing and DC10logo. (and an \Effects\Texture\lights.bmp)

From the SGA_DC-10-30 aircraft.cfg:

..ok Dave thanks for the pointers.....the effects file isn't with the SGA30F.zip download,as you say  so I missed that for a start ::) I do have lights and one side of the tail LOGO is lit only.....that's as per my pic. so don't know how that worked out :-/ I got he effects folder from the base package and now that I have corrected the typos you spotted ..it's all working just fine now..............cheers mate...commoner ;)

I beleive the Dc10 effects are in upgrade to the original DC-10-30. I found a Zip file napmed SGA-30SP  in one of my folders and it has the effect in it that dave pointed out and corrected my problem. But I just might try yours to just to see the dif.

Hi Rach......funny how interesting things come up from other problems......

the .fx file DC10BCNU , for example gives a much different beacon effect than the default fx_beacon....much more reflection on the fuselage and wings than the default........

You can (once you have the file in your effects folder) put it into any a/c if you like the extra "fireworks" display...here for comparison is the DC10BCNU , and the default fx_beacon in my old rustbucket c172.........commoner ;)
