Thanks, commoner - confirmed as 9.1.

:)

.....'S ok Di..........just one thing to keep in mind...........IF you should want to uninstall the sim.......you MUST uninstall the upgrade patch FIRST, or you will probably have a few problems..............commoner ;)

Ok, I am thoroughly confused now.  I installed the update months ago and assumed that it had worked.  When I checked out the version as noted by Commoner, it said 9.0.  So now what?  I have it installed, I checked the add/remove programs and it is there.  Why didnt it update?  I am such an idiot, flying for months thinking it was the newer version, and nothing had actually changed. I dont even know if I want the hassle of trying to uninstall the update and reinstalling and the whole no-cd fix again. BANG...BANG...BANG...that is the sound of my head pounding off my desk right now....Todd

..Hi cav.....well if you Right click the FS9.exe icon (Black aeroplane) and select properties and then Version.....and it says 9.0 then you don't have the update so download from Microsoft ..  get to this link  http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_update9.1_english.asp and install it.........then get the 9.1 nocd thingy from where I said and put that in the Fs9 folder.............seems simple enough to do...commoner ;)

...The update actually adds some bridges..one of the missing bridges is the Humber Bridge which is over the river close to the Humberside airport (UK)..if you have this Bridge then you have version 9.1.....check it out.....

Cavity,

Here's a little tip I found out.  If you had previously created an icon on your desktop using version 9.0 and then later installed 9.1 according to the M$ directions..... the icon on the desktop under "Properties" will still say version 9.0.

Go into your MAIN sim folder under "Program Files" and right click on the fs9.exe that is located THERE.....which is the "target" of the icon on the desktop and it what actually "runs".  Check the properties.  I bet it'll say version 9.1.   ;)

best,

...................john

Well, that version in the program file says 9.0, so I have no idea what I installed when I did the update.  Is a new exe file created, essentially rewriting the old one or are there two separate files?  I think I already know the answer to this, I am just delaying the inevitable.   Todd

I took off from that airport in the Uk  and I have one large bridge crossing the river.  It is a rather large suspension bridge with two towers.  Is that the right bridge?  Todd

Commoner and John, thanks for the help.  While I have that bridge, the file version is 9.0.  How can that be?  I checked again and the update is installed, yet the exe file still says 9.00.  Im wondering if this is why Im having so many random crashes with Dll files and such?  Is anybody having this experience?  Todd

Commoner, when I go into the folder, I right click on the airplane symbol.  When I select properties and click version it says 9.00.306 something or other.  When I right click on the update bridge emblem, I get version 9.1.   Whats strange is that neither says fs9.exe properties like your does in the post above, my just says fs9 properties and fs9 update properties.  Neither is listed as the exe file.  Todd

Here is the latest.  I tried to install the update again and it said it is already installed.  I went into the modules folder and all the .dll files are 9.1 so I believe I am ok.  The airplane icon for some reason still says 9.0 though, have no idea why.  Todd

One last question.  If the airplane symbol starts the exe file, and that is labelled as 9.0, how can I start the sim other than clicking on that symbol?  Does it even matter that the symbol says it is the old version?  Thanks again for your time and patience, I havent invested this much energy into a fs problem in a long time.  Todd
