The patch modifies the FS9.exe file, that is why you will loose some of the fixes if you reinstall the No-CD patch after patching.

Silver, I had worked around the problem before the patch and still didnt see much of an improvement.  I guess it goes back to set up and such that has been discussed since FS9 came out.  Seems some people get lucky and some dont.  I do have a question about the no-cd patch now.  I use it all the time and still see the fixes MS made.  Any idea what would be missing, and if so, how would I know?  Todd

I actually did that...I replaced the no-cd patch with the original FS9.exe and then reinstalled the patch.  Oddly enough I am actually having problems I have NEVER had before.  After a few minutes, the screen goes black and my computer freezes.  So yeah...I'll either live with no patch for a while, or continue using the patch with the no-cd patch installed.  I had no problems with that.

There seems to be some debate as to whether this new update replaces (overwrites) FS9.cfg. From what foo_fighter is saying it doesn't, while others report that it does. This could possibly be explained by different language versions of FS9 & the update although I can't think why. Again, it should be easy enough to confirm this once & for all. Anyone who has installed the update can right-click on FS9.exe, select Properties & check the date it was created. My original FS9.exe (not the No-CD patch) was created on 13 June 2003. If the update replaces the file it will obviously have a much later date.

i put the patch on today and not a single glitch everything is as normal as can be..my fsp has improved a little my high detailed meshes look even better..  overall i have noticed some
good subtle changes.
just make sure youv'e got the latest fsuipc installed before.
also when you install it..it makes a backup for you and gives you the option to uninstall if you need to...
one test i did was to fly round a built up area in large circles before the patch it used to get bogged and stutter a bit..now i'm getting 18 to 20+ smooth and hardly a stutter...
out in the sticks it's flat out high 20s i'm locked at 30fps
this is with my sliders almost maxed..
definately an improvment a small one but every bit helps :)

No luck here.
When I try all it says is
Update Error Type:34
And then says it can not be updated...

This known performance issue is NOT the issue I have with MS FS9.

Can someone take a minute to clarify the whole no-cd patch thing.  I downloaded the new MS patch, installed it, it said it was successful, I clicked on the no-cd emblem like I did before and was off and flying.  If the new MS patch is an update to the FS9.exe, and the no-cd patch accesses the now revised FS9.exe, why do you have to re-install the no-cd patch?  I notice the new bridges and such so it must be working.  Am I thinking about this correctly, or should I replace something or modify what seems to be working?  Thanks, Todd
