WANTED-Better-Looking GUI

Postby Virtual_Pilot » Fri Sep 07, 2007 7:18 pm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it would be possible to re-vamp the FS9 GUI, you know, select a plane, flight, just all that stuff. I did something kinda crazy, I copied the FSX Uires folder, which has data for the GUI, and replaced the FS9 Uires folder with it. Alot of things looked pretty funky, but some looked great, like the select airport menu, loading screen, exit Flight Sim, and a few others. Some were totally messed up, buttons totally out of place, and lots more.

I think that that should be a project. There should be better fonts, buttons, icons and what not. Also in the game, like when you right click, that should definately be changed along with the toolbar.

I am not sure if anyone gets this problem, but when I right click or hit alt to open the toolbar, I get a black flash and have to wait a couple seconds before it is opened. I have Vista, if that is the problem.

I don't know if it's possible, but if it is, it would be sweet.

Thanks,
Virtual_Pilot

There is something like you're talkin about here:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004misc24.htm

I haven't tried it, never saw the need.

I was looking for something that makes the FS9 GUI look somewhat like FSX

I'd like something that looks like FS02 - fills the screen instead of some crummy little box that takes up 1/3 of the screen surrounded by black.

Why not just get FSX instead of making FS9 look like it? ::) :D

Not all of us have:

Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300
2GB PC2-5300 RAM
200GB HDD
Blu-Ray Combo Drive
Multimedia Card Reader
nVidia GeForce 8400M GT 512MB
HDMI, VGA, S-Video Out...

already infected with Vista.

You wouldn't believe the garbage that FSX installs on an XP system.

FS9 has way more add-ons to download and gives better performance. Simple.

...should be a fairly easy project.....if any one thinks it is worth the effort...don't see the point myself. All the bit maps are there to be found and the fonts too .......the main feature being dlgstd.bmp I suppose (in the Uires folder.....just redesign your own and swap the bitmaps seem like an interesting little job if you are into that kind of thing.....commoner :-/

@commoner: Yes, it's really not very hard, but it's a boring work - set properties in RH (a program), test in FS, exit FS, set properties, test in FS ;)

That isn't possible! (yes it really isn't).
The FSX uses completely different files for their GUI - no more dll's but spb whatever that is - I also can't open them.

For about 5 menus i needed about 3 hours, but there are still about 30.......  :-/ ;)
Changing the language should be easier, just about 2 minutes per menu I think.
If there's anyone that wants to translate my files, please tell me.
I'd be very happy - that could be my first "product" and upload on SimV, AvSim, etc.!

Oooh, nice. I had actually already started on something like that. Haven't looked at it yet, but it should be pretty good.

You have to upload your picture onto upload images
Simviation Free Site | Simviation Members Site | CFS Home | Site Map | Site Search | Upload Images | Help & Support | Dictionary.com
Home

You can't just enter a link from other sites.
