Blurry Texture Problems?

Postby Ben R » Mon Sep 03, 2007 12:05 pm

Well, ive recently started using Holger Sandmanns mesh's, and whenever i switch to spot view, in which i have to go through tower view, my textures on my scenery go REALLY blurry..

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Or is there a way in which to disable tower view or a key command to switch straight to spot view?

Thanks,
Ben

Sounds to me like your video card is just taking a while to load the new view.(Happens to me too) You could try changing the LOD value in the FS9.cfg, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of having a good mesh in the first place. If memory serves, there is a tutorial floating around SimV about how to reduce the "blurries", but I'm not sure where it is. You can also program a key assignment for "Refresh scenery" too. Try this, right after change your view to spot, hit pause for a minute or two, and see if the blurries go away. If they do, it would be safe to say your video card may not be able to keep up with your sims' display settings. In that case, back your display settings sliders down a bit, or even try different resolutions and color depths on your monitor. Sometimes that helps too.

Ground blurries are usually a sign of your config file making promises that your computer can't keep.   ;)

All other things being equal......my take on it is when you go through tower view, which is usually quite distant, the sim has to scrap (at least some of) the scenery in memory. When you return to the local scenery of the cockpit-vc-spot view it takes time to rebuild.

I don't know of a way to disable/bypass the tower view, but you can avoid it by using S=Views(cycle forward) and [Shift+S]=Views(cycle backwards).

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Another thing: If you don't have so, go to your FS 9 graphic resolution settings, if you have for example 1024x768x32, select 1024x768x16.
You won't notice much of a difference!
