Using AI Dash 8/MD-80

I've been playing FS for awhile, but have always wanted to fly the Dash 8, and the MD-80 that the AI uses. I'm hoping this is as simple as "enabling" it for non-AI use, and getting a panel for it, but I've no idea how to enable it, if even possible.

How would I go about doing this?

Get an Air File editor ( AirEd or similar).  Change aircraft type from "2"  to "0".

Alias the panel to a default aircraft (for the Dash-80, alias to the default King Air.)
