Viewing landing lights from cockpit?

Postby simonmd » Fri Aug 31, 2007 2:15 pm

At the moment, i'm landing and taxiing in the pitch dark from the main panel view, anyone know how to fix this?

I'm sure there is a .cfg file mod that makes the landing lights visable on the ground from the 2D cockpit but I can't find anything on the search.

I'm pretty sure in your display options there is a box about seeing lights from cockpit...it certainly requires no cfg editing...

Nope, there is a landing lights selection in the aircraft section but that was already on. Just tried it again and still a dark runway with landing lights on!

in fs9.cfg check that you see this
SEE_SELF=1
This corrects the problem

Thanks for that, I've fixed it now by doing the old 'fix FS9 with a shotgun' approach and deleted the FS9.cfg file. No doubt that line was the cause.

I think it also has something to do with the individual aircraft too. My FS9.cfg has the "SEE_SELF=1" entry, but not all aircraft have a visible landing light beam. I believe the aircraft have to be modeled with it.

I'll vouch for what's above...my first plane did not display the light beam in 2D view until a "cockpit model" was added.

...mmm.....SEE_SELF=1 or 0 toggles the 2d cockpit into either showing or not showing the side doors and seats etc when looking left/right/backwards etc..if you want an unrestricted view from the cockpit when looking to the side, then use SEE_SELF=0 ..it does also cause the taxi/landing lights to go out at night from the 2d panel view but not in the VC.........hope this helps some of you guys.........commoner ;D

I believe but not certain that  these lights have to be programmed into the original model otherwise you won't get them anyway. ;)
