Autopilot will not engage.

Postby gypsymoth » Mon Aug 27, 2007 3:28 pm

I use the Taylorcraft Auster Mk5 a lot & as I plan longer trips I thought I'd install an autopilot, & used the one in the Lear45, a known working AP.   The strange thing is I can load settings but none of the buttons (for alt/heading, etc) work but the AP will not engage.

As a test I installed Glen Copeland's digitach  & that worked OK as does his parking brake.
However, when I aliased a working panel, the autopilt in that would not engage.

Thanks,
TW.

The aircraft.cfg file has to be set up for the autopilot.  Replace (if it's even there) the [autopilot] paragraph with the Lear's [autopilot] paragraph.

Always make a backup when editing cgf files....

Thanks.  I've just put it in Mike Stone's at9 & it works perfectly there & now I've edited the Auster cfg as you describe it now works there too.   Thanks again!   :D

You need to look in the aircraft.cfg file as well. It should say;

[autopilot]
autopilot_available=1

If it is set at =0, then it is disabled, change the 0 to 1.
