ILS Landings Question

Postby greenhorn » Mon Aug 27, 2007 12:28 pm

Nice straightforward query for you all  :P

Where can I find out which frequency the radio should be tuned to in order to activate the glide slope at an airport in order to perform an ILS landing?  It seems to be one of the things the tutorials don't tell you.

Thanks

I highly suggest the site www.fscharts.com  ;)

Very helpful site, which lists various frequencies for ILS at any airport you can think of  :D

However, I even more highly suggest you invest in the program FSNavigator. It will allow you to view all that information while in flight, on a world map with every single airport in your flight sim world  ;)

The frequency is found on the charts. Check this link out Chart where it says localizer 110.3, that's your frequency.  Another way is, if you go to the map, inside of FS9, and zoom in to the airport you want to land at and click on it, it will show you all the frequency's.

Hope that helped

Use the map!  :D Click on the airport you want and scroll down until you see the runway information. The ILS Frequencies are displayed to the right.

Thanks people, I'll go have a look!  I knew it must have been in the program somewhere, but I struggle to make head or tail of all the numbers without first knowing what they mean!  Many thanks.

Even easier than the above, open the MSFS map when you are near to the airport. You will see the 'ILS beams' as thin green arrows pointing to each runway that has ILS. Put your mouse pointer over the desired one and the heading and ILS frequency will be shown.

You can also buy out-of-date approach charts from FBOs or get them from pilots. I have these lying on the desk beside the keyboard for the approach portion of a flight.
