make an aircraft roll better

Postby chrism7262 » Tue Jul 03, 2007 11:12 pm

hello,

i was wondering how i can make an aircraft roll better and make sharper turns. would i have to edit the aircraft.cfg or the aircrafts air file? or is it even legal to do without contacting the producer of the aircraft? so im not going to mess with it until i know how to do it or if im allowed.

thanks for your help!!

Let me guess... you're going to modify POSKY aircraft? LOL! They do not have very good Flight Dynamics. (In my opinion)

Yes it is perfectly allowed... However if you wish to share it you must ask permission from the creators.

To make a plane roll better, first find the aircraft.cfg of the plane you wish to edit. Go into your Flight Simulator 9\aircraft\ folder and find the aircraft you wish to modify. Open up its aircraft.cfg and find the [flight_tuning] section.

Then turn up the following value:

aileron_trim_effectiveness  = 1.0

I do not know how to make a plane actually turn faster.

I think you meant,  aileron_effectiveness, not, aileron_trim_effectiveness.

Anyway.. the flight tuning paragraph is your last resort. Some developers like to make their planes feel big and sluggish by puting ridiculous numbers in the MOIs.

I'd try reducing those first.. Namely  Roll and Yaw, but the pitch MOI is probably high, too.

Compare the numbers to a similarr sized, default plane.

chrism,

Are you talking about rolling in the air... or on the ground?

If you mean on the ground... there is a known problem with the way an aircraft taxis... not realistic.

Did this fix your problem? I got a POSKY 737-800 that flights like a brick, it's like trying to turn the Titanic (in the air) :-[

The only POSKY aircraft that works pretty well for me is the A330.  :-/
