Where are AI aircraft kept.

Postby gypsymoth » Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:59 pm

About 18 months ago I inadvertently installed some RAF VC10 aircraft (from where?) & they appear at Brize Norton AFB & taxi & fly off at 11.15 hrs to the sunny climes of Southern Europe (Cypru, Malta, etc) & I'd be grateful if a guru can tell me which folder they might lurk in?

The flight consists of 7 or 8 grey tankers (over the Channel drogue lines appear & stay extended until just before landing) with one smart silver & white Transport Command job.
I recently joined in & followed a tanker at a discrete distance to Malta.  When I landed, there it was at an apron parking space near the control tower  8-)  I took lots of pictures of this trip!

I want to add them to my laptop fs9 but cannot find them so any help will be greatfully appreciated.

My guess is the package is RAF Brize-Norton from:UK Military AI

RAF Brize-Norton RAF VC-10 ai package download at Avsim.

In your aircraft folder look for 'UKMIL_JBAI VC10*' aircraft (2).

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks Dave.  Nothing with that name there......... :-?

I did install I remember, just Flight's Ultimate Traffic, but un-installed it as it caused a problem - could they be  left-over from that?

I've never installed UT, but it's possible.

You can look for clues by looking in your \Aircraft\ folder for

I might have a go with the UKMil links but I am not sure when these aircraft appear.  Do they behave like my other pc VC10s, appearing & flying at certain times?

I have the Lago Tornado & wonder if my VC10s are part of this installation?

I don't have the Lago Tornado. Looking at the package description, it does include VC10's (with F-16 escort) for in-flight refueling. Sounds like that's your source.

Re the UKMIL package: Yes, VC-10's fly out of EGVN, 24/7, on various schedules to airports throughout Eur., the Med. and the middle east.

If you decide to install (any) UKMIL packages you should also get their Afcad downloads, a link is at the bottom of the download page. These will put the necessary parking at the airports used in all their ai packages. Install the 'Latest_Afcad_Changes' package last. (Note: you'll need the UK2000 afcads only if you have UK2000 scenery installed.)

It's definately NOT UT....that's civil traffic only (I have it)

It's definately NOT Lago Tornado....you have to actually call a tanker which then appears 20 miles east of you

That leaves the UKMIL option, which sounds very likely :)

I have just downloaded the ukmil VC10 package on my laptop & this is the first time I've got it.  The mystery flight is in the pc.   They've been there for about the past year/18 months.  No problem - they're great & I love following them to their various destinations!!

I'm going to post seperately about the ukmil download.
