Key Command on Schooner

Postby mpos » Sat Aug 04, 2007 7:17 am

I have just downloaded the Schooner and have found the the key command "I" does not have any effect on the Wake and Spray as it is supposed to. What do I need to do to get it to work according to the 'Read me" file? The "G" key works fine for the anchor.

Go into Settings then Control Assignments and then go down to Smoke On/Off and then set the key command to "I"

Looking at the download, 'schooner.zip' the problem is:

In the 'aircraft.cfg' file the [Smoke] effect (the 'I' key) calls  the file 'fx_smoke_ship.fx'. This is not a default effect and must be installed. Unfortunetly the author did not include the file or list any source for the file.

To this point the only source I have found for the file is in Holger Sandmann's FS2004 Glacier Bay V2 scenery (glbayv2a.zip). At 58Mb, it's a large download for just the .fx file. On the other hand, it's a GREAT scenery add-on (scenery also requires 'glbayv2b', 87Mb).

Another option might be to get Holger's ai ship fx download, 'ai_shipx.zip' and substitute one of the 'wake' effects.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

mpos,

I've sent you a PM. I have the fs_sray trail and the effect for the front of the ship that you need.

Update: I downloaded the Schooner and took the effects code from the Belem (French Clipper) and pasted the code in the effects section of the aircraft.cfg. It works great.

Once you get the effects from me (should you be interested), you need to create an effects folder for the schooner and paste the effects there and the Effects Folder Under Aircraft in FS9.

Thanks for all the replies. I shall try to work it all out although I am not too sure about how I will go.
