Problem with FS2004.

Postby chris1060 » Mon Jul 23, 2007 7:48 pm

In the last couple of days, shortly after tafeoff my FS screen turns black and then I have to restart the program. Any ideas on what could be the problem and what I should do to fix it. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

did you download and install any addons lately? Does it happen with all aircraft and at all airports? What are the settings of your simulator and please give us your computer specifications.

Thanks,

Crash ;)

No I don't have any addons installed just FS, I've been running it on my laptop for 8 months now with no problems until recently.

I think the specs are:
2.0 ghz
256 mb ati x1300 or 1400
1 gig ram
80 gig hd
My computer is only 8 months old.

See NickN's comments about laptops and high demand 3-D graphics programs.  Maybe the repeated heat buildup with the poor laptop ventilation is finally killing the video adapter?

best,

LOL!

Since you have no addons installed, it may be okay to reinstall fs9. That's fixed that sort of thing for me before, but it's proobably your laptop.  >:(

:D  I see you have an ATI card.  You might try turning on the anti aliasing in the game settings.  I did with my PCI-E 1950pro and my problems disappeared.

I don't know but does your computer overheat?

I would reinstall the game since there is really no risk.  ;)

Well I reinstalled FS and I still had the same problem with the screen turning black and FS shutting down, but only when I fly out of Newark(KEWR). I then tried other airports and newark again a couple of times and no problems so far. Hopefully this dosen't happen again and thanks for the help.

Have you installed the 9.1 patch. I think it addresses some crashing issues.

If it's not fixed by 9.1 patch, it's probably a Graphics card problem. I'm no help with ATI, so good luck!
