Longer runways

hey does anybody know which airports have really long runways. i like to test stuff i download before i actually fly with them and i know seattle and philadelphia have long runways. are there any longer than this?

I do not know the code for it but it has to be one of the longest runways in the world and that would be the salt flats. You know where all of the speed records and the shuttle landed at first. Kjax runways 07 and 25 are 10,000 feet long that is not what you would call short. 8-)

Amarillo International Airport (AMA). The main runway is 13,502 feet long and 300 feet wide, one of the largest civilian runways in the country.

Upington - FAUP

In the middle of nowhere, nothing within 100 miles that could decrease frames, very long runway, with a semi-crossing runway which is perfect for doing 'half circuits'  ;)

Istres, France is the longest in Europe IIRC, at 15/16,000 feet.

KEDW (Edwards Air Force Base) is my personal favorite testing grounds. Load up at KEDW, fly NE towards Nellis, do a touch and go, then fly back. Nice little trip that doesn't take too long.

I believe another (very long) runway is Vostochny, in Russia. 16,404 feet long (single runway though).

Course, with the Edwards AFB addon from Alphasim, you have the full 7.5mile runway at your disposal, which I believe is the longest solid ground runway in the world (I say "solid", because Sea Planes technically have the worlds longest runways available )

We don't have the longest runway here in Jacksonville garymbuska. The NASA Shuttle Landing Facility in Titusville(X68) is much longer. It's over 15,000 ft in length. That's 5,000 more than KJAX.  ;)

Anyway, even as commercial airports go, none of these are special.

Qamdo Bangda Airport (ZUBD) located in Bangda, Tibet, is not only one of the [url]highest[/url] airport in the world (altitude: 14219 ft.) but at 18045 feet, runway 14/32 is the longest public use runway in the world.

Now I am really curious which aircraft is being tested that needs a 15,000ft+ runway.  :)

at 14000 feet though even light aircraft will use a good bit of that runway to get airborne nevermind climb to a reasonable height (air is less dense therefore engine cant create as much power because it cant draw as much air in and the plane needs to be going faster on takeoff as the thinner air wont be able to support the aircraft aswell.
