I have found that if you put the flaps down for takeoff the plane will not accellerate well. If you spool the engines before releasing the brakes, release the brakes, and halfway down the runway you put in full flaps you will takeoff almost every time. This isn't realistic though.

That's exactly the same process I often use for short-field take-offs with my small to medium Piston Props, except that I only flip down one stage of Flap part way down the runway, so as not to create too much initial drag, and immediately cancel it when the wheels have left the runway, and I am well above the stall speed..;)...!

The one stage of Flap often catapults me up into the air with it's extra "lift"!!... :o...!

And spooling up the engines to obtain full power before releasing the brakes is good practice as it also makes sure that the engines are reaching their maximum revs cleanly before take-off, without any problems... :)...!

Paul...G-BPLF...Piston Props.... 8-)...!

Apart from making sure that you're not above your max take off weight, Nav may well have the key - pitch trim, which certainly helps to get the big jets off the ground. You can program the buttons on your joystick to adjust the pitch trim easily. And don't put out too much flap, or the drag will slow your progress to take-off speed. Around 10-15 degrees should be enough.

The Posky 747 flight dynamics are helped by setting the pitch trim at takeoff to around +4 degrees (experiment with this), which should be indicated on your EICAS readout, depending on which panel you're using. This level of pitch-up should assist in your trim for climb once you're in the air before you engage the autopilot.
