Drawing Failed

Postby caveman16 » Sun Jul 15, 2007 6:47 am

When viewing some files in the sim folders, I get the message "drawing failed". Is there some reason why these drawings can not be viewed?   If it is possible, how do I go about viewing them ?  PC settings, etc ?
Thank you for your help.   caveman

I get this aswell, it is most likely beacuse of the picture itself and how MS saved it (JPEG, GIF, BMP ETC) it could be that it is saved as a diffrent type of file that you'r computer can't get. Or the file could be corrupted.

Don't panic! Nothing is wrong. The drawing fails because the texture files are not standard Windows bitmaps - they are enhanced with an extra channel that controls texture shine and/or transparency. If you google for a program called DXTBmp, this will allow you to view the texture files.

That file is one of Martin Wright's collection, I have found in XP that after using DXTbmp XP learns the drill and will open the FS bmp first time. The other prog of Martin's is SHOW.exe.

Not necessarily. XP will indeed draw uncompressed BMPs such as the 32-bit variety, but will not draw compressed formats such as  DXT3.

:-? What I should have said:- When in windows explorer XP and you click on a FS .....bmp texture file, it will open the bmp file in the DXTbmp prog:
