What settings do you run?

Add this line under [MAIN] in your fs9.cfg file and you actually GET an average frame rate display, with high, low, and deviation.

Ave_Frame_Rate_Display=1

If the frame rate is temporally Un-Locked, (Shift + Z), then the average frame rate can be observed.

Presses Shift + Z - Well, there it is. I've seen it before, but I guess I forgot the command. Rechecked FSX Keyboard Commands List and found it under Cycle Coordinates/Frame Rates. Damn bifocals!!

I will admit that FSX sometimes has me wanting to pull my hair out. Never had FS 2004, but I hear that there are some things better in this version than FSX.

Just to confirm the location of the Frame Rate "doobry" in FS 2004....>>>>

Alt > Options > Settings > Display > Hardware > Target Frame Rate > (set 0 to 99).

I'm not sure where it is in FSX...(Haven't run the program long enuf to find out... ...)....LOL... ...!

The location of the Frame Rate is similiar to FSX. I'd look it up, but I'm enjoying my morning cup of tea ;-)

21 FPS works well with me with everything maxed out. Couldn't do that with 1 GB RAM. I have 2 GB RAM now :-) However, I'll try out Alex's settings at 13fps and see what happens.

The human eye cannot notice a difference over 35FPS (This is what TV and Movies are shown at) so lower your target frames to 35, and that will give your computer more resources for getting rid of blurries and improving the overall look of your sim  ;)

Well when i press shift-z to get the data on the altitude etc. the FPS counter says the game is running at 60 fps and i do not experience any blurries or anything else like that.

The general quality of the sim will be increased, gauges etc. will be smoother.

But there is no reason not to lower your frames to 35-40FPS, you will notice subtle differences, small, but subtle, and it will have no effect on the rest of your game.

But then again, if you're stuck in the mind set of "I get 60FPS, thats better than yours" then fine  ::)  :)

I'm pretty sure no-one cares.

Just never forget to lock your frame rate at no more that 20 FPS any time you join a Multiplayer Session...part of the rules to ease bandwidth, and not affect other players on line!!

At 20-25 FPS Max, you will notice little or no difference to the speed/smoothness of game-play......!
