A GeForce 7900 is not up to snuff for FSX?

This card is in the M1710 laptop & FSX is as smooth as whatever!
The card I am going to upgrade is the 6800 in the Dimension 9150   ::)

We are in the lovely, friendly old FS 2004 Forum at present...(not the Dreaded FSX Forum!)...;)...!

Don't you just love these threads! It gives everybody the chance to use the word "maxed" to their hearts content.
Maxed, maxed, maxed maxed maxed. ;D ;D ;D

Well, I don't have my sliders "all maxed" as I have a Cr*p graphics card and I'm too lazy to do anything about it!

I still love my FS9 though. And as for FSX, unless I win the lottery, no chance!

LOL

This might be a stupid question. Where to set the sight distance to 10-20 miles? If I go to Settings --> Display --> Weather the minimum setting for sight distance is 60 miles.

To answer the topic, I've got everything maxed out, locked at 20 fps.

Crash ;)

Hello Crash...;)...!

Menu > Weather > User defined > Customise  > Set Visibility, etc.....

Hey Fozzer, is this for FS9? I don't have:
Menu > Weather > User defined > Customise  > Set Visibility, etc.....

I have:
Settings > Weather > Nothing even close to what you said
or
Settings > Display > Weather > Custom  (but here the lowest setting is 60miles)

Thanks
Dan

Fulanito, on your weather menu, there's the normal list of settings (cloudy, clear sky, etc) at the bottom, there's a Custom setting option, there you can change it, it's kind of hidden.  Took me a while to find it.

Frame rate average 40 FPS, but locked at 20 FPS..;)...!
Now try those settings in FSX... ::)... ;)... ;)...!

Paul,

Forgive me for being an "FSX user," but how do you know you have a frame rate average of 40 when it's locked at 20?

And yes, I also like my water blue. However, I can tell you the water around Corpus Christi, Texas is really green in color. YUCK!!

LOL...!

What a shame they haven't invented a little blue pill just for FS yet?!  ::)  ;D

As for settings, I run everything on full, with frames locked about 13FPS.

It may not sound by much but I can have 100% AI at a detailed airport in the PMDG 747-400, and everything runs smoothly. 13FPS is just above the threshold for 'jitters', and as NickN once said, its not always the FPS, its how those frames are strung together in a sequence, I can very rarely notice the frames.

All the best,
Alex

Easy-peasy, my old Chum....

If the frame rate is temporally Un-Locked, (Shift + Z), then the average frame rate can be observed.

...and your apology for being an "FX User" is duly noted, but that's a cross that you alone must bear, I'm afraid...;)...

.....not an area I wish to delve into!... :o...!

Paul... 8-)...!

(My copy of FSX presently stored in my bottom drawer)....;)...!
