They are default and you can find them north of the arctic circle. Enjoy. :)

As Murjax said, they are default, but I think that seeing them factors on a lot of things, not just an exact location or even a specific time. I found them once in Alaska (See here for piccies), I saved the flight there & then hoping that I could see the lights again, but I have never seen them at that location since, even when I have gone back to exactly the same date & time. I guess you gotta be a bit lucky to catch them, worth looking for though as when they are shimmering & fading in & out, they look amazing.

:)

I got them once, and they bloody annoyed me. They follow you wherever you go even if you go low. I was in Scotland when i saw then (west coast) in winter.

I believe they are something seen in the winter, and I know you must be really far north, such as Alaska, Greenland, Norway, and  Russia.

FS9 even has comet textures, but I've only heard of one person seeing it.

Northern Lights...?

I encountered them once during a collision with a street light pole after leaving my favourite watering hole; "The Pig and Whistle".

Made a mental note of the location of the offending "Street Light Pole"....

Never seen them since... ::)...!

My wife wants to go to see them for real, for our tenth wedding anniversary next year. I'm thinking about Norway...
