I don't see why everyone has to rush to get Vista, there is no point. Sooner or later a problem is gonig to occur that you can't get solved and you wish you stuck with XP.

I don't know who, sorry.

I have Vista and have transfered many FS9 planes both to FS9 in it and also FS9 planes to FSX  with no questions, except the usual asking if you are sure you want to do this or that.......you must be doing something strange!!!!!! :o...
Oh, I am surprised how well Vista is doing in my PC.... :D
---------
By the way, most FS9 planes work fine with FSX and some even with panels, others is a question of placing a new FSX panel and fly.............

The only experience I have with Vista is on a friend's new PC. I find it very frustrating to use but that's probably because I'm not used to it & haven't set it up properly. He doesn't have any version of FS installed so I can't check this out myself.

I was reading on another forum that Vista treats the Program Files directory as Read-only which might explain your problems with editing files & installing addons. The suggestion posted here might be worth a try. --> http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=47887
Edit the permissions on the Microsoft Games folder to grant the Users group modify access as described. Please tell me if it works.

:D  Just a thought....I have vista premium and have had no problem installng files to FS9.  My planes are shaded when I run it but I'm working on that.  Seems to be a texture problem.

Ok let me see if I can explain better, when i donwload any new aircraft and installed everything is fine, BUT  when I want to add textures to this plane im able to copy the new textures folders but when i want to add the textures descriptions in the aircraft.cfg and i want to save it, tells me that im not able to save it, so i have to keep the plane only with the textures that i had when i installed, hope this helps

Did you try my suggestion? If that didn't work you might try moving the Aircraft.cfg you wish to edit to another directory. Then edit it before pasting it back.

Hi I think I might be able to help out. I to have Vista on my machine as was having problems running FS2004. The soultion is very easy. Right click and open proporties. You will see option to run program in Windows XP SP2 check it. Hit apply and you should be all set. When I was running in Vista mode my machine would shut down something about hardware. I have not had that problem since doing this. I have Ultimate Traffic and had to do the same and it works perfect. Keep that in mind when you are running add on programs and our having problems. Hope that helps.
