FS9 BUGGED!!!

Postby blue_fox89 » Mon May 14, 2007 10:45 pm

Heys guys, now I'm gonna show to everybody how is my FS9. The scenery is awful, full of points, that is moving just when my camera moves, or the aircraft. I've made the tweaks suggested by the guys in this forum, but didnt work!

Turn down your mip mapping to a maximum of 4, turn OFF antialiasing in the sim and ON in your video card hardware setup.

best,

PS:  Please see your PMs.

First of all, your MIP mapping is too high. Put it on 4 or 6. Same for hardware rendered lights. Second, turn off AA in the flightsim, turn it on on your videocard. It does matter.

You have about the same videocard as I do. Mine is a XFX Geforce 7800GS. Both are not state of the art and are midrange videocards. Don't expect that you can turn everything to the max.

Crash ;)

Not to slightly hijack the thread, but what exactly does MIP Mapping do, and why does everyone seem to suggest turning it down to 4 or there abouts? Mine is maxed and I've had no problems graphically (ATI Radeon 9550, 256mb card).

As for your problem, check to make sure the drivers are up to date. That might be causing the problems.

Now, the game is better! I changed the tweak codes like the miltestpilot said, AA off, nvidia setting AF 16x, and the best configuration was that all the guys said, the MIP quality. I changed it for 4, and now doesnt have more the building and trees points dancing, lol! I will post the screens that i took before the change and after,

Hello blue_fox89,

I've noticed you started a some threads wrote a lot of posts recently... that's OK, and we all like to help everyone who has trouble with Flight Simulator, so no offense meant... but whatever your trouble is... don't panic :)

Calling this thread FS9 BUGGED!!! is quite misleading, and in this case simply wrong, especially since it was just a matter of your video setup. For many issues with FS, there is nothing like a simple solution that will work for everybody. It requires a little patience to figure things out.

Enough said. Happy flying! ;)

blue_fox89,

I am glad that your video issues have been resolved.

However, while this new set of screenshots in this thread is now uploaded to the SimV server, the total weight of them is about 770K........... and the maximum is supposed to be 500K.

Additionally, it is likely unnecessary to post so many shots to illustrate the point of the difference between "before" and "after"; likely two shots would have been sufficient in this case.  If you are going to post so many shots, maybe use the appropriate (freeware or paywaere) screenshot forums.  And for stuff like the config settings, maybe you could reduce the size to 600 or 700 wide to help conserve bandwidth and server space.

Can you please go back here and edit out a couple of pix to bring the total down to about 500K?  Thanks.

best,

How do I find the window to set the Nvidia drivers as some of you have suggested, 4xAA & 16xAF & AA on?
Tried everything I could think of without any luck.
Thanks
Bob

Ok, moderator! Sorry for the too many photos, now has just 5 photos, and this doesnt pass the 500k max. I hope you enjoy the screens, thanks! ;)

About the settings in your VGA! Here is mustang51! ;)

You can see the AA 4x and AF16x following this pass:
1 - Click left in desktop, and click on Properties
2 - Go to Configurations, and Advanced
3 -  Now click on your VGA, mine is Geforce 7900GT
4 -  Click on Performance |&Quality Settings
5 - Go to Global Driver Settings, View, and select ADVANCE SETTINGS
6 - Now you can change the settings that you want!

What he's got looks great to me. I have the jaggies to the max and absolutely no knowledge as to hot to get rid of them. I'd take his dissatisfaction and run with it!

Antialiasing.  Set it to at least 4X in your video card setting screen.  BUT.... AA is a performance hit... so your video card has to be up to it to get rid of the "jaggies".  Ansiiotorpic filtering helps too.....but another performance hit.

Try it and see if the framerate is still OK.
