Well, a passenger plane should ask for a gate, not a parking. If in the menu you don't have the option to receive a gate it means either that there are no gates in that airport (unlikely, unless you landed in a GA airport) or that all the gates are at that moment occupied by other planes.

To put a "patch" at that you can add more gates to a given airport with AFCAD (the program) or searching on the various sites (like this one) for a better AFCAD file (with more gates and parkings) for the airport you plan to use.
There's but one real cure for human stupidity. It's called DEATH.

At the moment mourning the assassination of sarcasm and irony for the good of the "higher".

this happens with some planes from iFDG and projectopensky.

I wonder if perhaps the planes you are using are set as cargo types in their respective aircraft.cfg files. I noticed that the default 747 adds the line "atc_parking_types=CARGO" in the fltsim.0 section for the Global Freightways livery and omits it for all of the rest.

Hope this helps...Good luck
