Toe Brake effectiveness. Increase/decrease?

Postby Fozzer » Thu Apr 19, 2007 3:38 am

Hello Chums.... ;)...!

On some of my little Microlights, the toe brakes are either not fitted, or are not effective enough for my liking.

I have added this typical entry to the aircraft.cfg file (if it was missing).

****************************
[brakes]
parking_brake = 1               //Parking brake available
toe_brakes_scale = 0.68    //Brake scalar//  I'd try it in  0.02  increments.
differential_braking_scale = 1.0  // rudder activated differential brakes
****************************

Can anyone advise me of the numbers which have to be applied/changed to increase (or decrease) the toe brake effectiveness.... ;)...!

Many thanks.... :)...!

Paul...Give me a break!..... ;D...!

I tried increasing the Brake scalar number to 1.85, but it made no difference!
It seems that if the original model was not designed to have brakes then they cannot be modified by the user... :'(...!

Check the 'Brake Map' for each wheel in the [contact_points] section.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

The fun of FS breaks  ;D  When I made my supersonic C172 it was powerful it could takeoff from idle, I had to increase the brakes by 50  :D

Glad you sorted it all out Fozz!

Tee-Hee... ;D...!

Hello BAW...!

I wouldn't have thought you would have had any problems with hanging on to the reins in your supercharged '172, when buried up to it's axles in Arizona sand... ::)....?

LOL.... ;D...!

Cheers BAW...;)..!
