KC-10 Installer problem

Postby 737-200 » Sat Apr 07, 2007 1:33 pm

Hi guys,

I recently downloaded a KC-10 Extender from http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military127.htm (last one at the bottom of the page)  However, when I unzip and attempt to install it, it always gives me an error.  I have found this happens with quite a few of the installers.

I was wondering if their was any way to fix the installer or if anyone here had a copy of the KC-10 that was just in a zip file and not in an installer package....

Thanks guys

Hi & welcome to the forum. I just checked the file out for you. It works fine. Take my tip & treat auto-installers like zipfiles. Redirect the install path to a Temp folder anywhere on your HD. Then you can install it manually in the usual way.

Okay, thanks for the help, I have gotten it to work now.

Actually, some (but not all) setup executables can be extracted like archives. I don't know if this works with WinZip, but WinRAR is definitely capable of that. When right-klicking such a setup file, WinRAR offers options to extract it just like it was a zip file. Both WinZip and WinRAR are available as free trial versions.

I suspect you're talking about self-extracting zipfiles. These are what I use for the Fox Four packages. Most freeware auto-installers are of the ClickTeam type.
