question about fs2004 uninstall

Postby mcfly2 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 8:56 am

Hello everybody !
My problem is that I should reinstall fs2004 because
my terrain.cfg file has been deleted, fs2004 is still working but I have
weird graphic issue on my airport ( such as trees in the middle of the runway ).
If I uninstall fs2004 what will happens to my aircraft and addon scenery folders ?,
I know I will have to reactivate all the sceneries but do you think I will have
to reinstall all my aircraft add on ?

If you uninstall FS your aircraft folder will remain the same. So all your addon planes will still be there. You are correct about re-activating your sceneries. However, my experience is that FS never runs as smooth after a 'partial' uninstall. When I have to uninstall it I completely remove FS and delete all the files.

Crash ;)

Thanks a lot for your reply. I agree with you on the fact
that It's better to delete all the files before reinstalling
the whole game but I have too many addon ( >60 Go )
to proceed that way.

What i would do is if you have payware addons then find the installer and install it again (after you have re-installed Flight Simulator) but if you have freeware addons then just copy them to a folder then add them after you have re-installed Flight Simulator :)
Specs:

AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-Core Processor 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4350
500GB Hard-drive
Blue-ray.

Ok but I also have to copy the effects, gauges, addon scenery and module folder
to do that way, it's too big, and I only got 10 Go of free space on my HDD.

Back up Scenery.cfg before unistalling FS9. After reinstall run FS9 once to create the databases & then paste it back in replacing the new one. That will save you re-activating all that scenery.
