Tornado AAR probe

Postby elmesmike » Sat Mar 17, 2007 4:16 am

I have downloaded the tornado and the probe closes with shift+W but springs straight open again
The assignment button for shift +w is for water rudder up/down is that correct

Hello. Can you be more specific. Which Tornado is this?

OK. A link to the page would save a lot of hunting around. I assume you mean the ones posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military9.htm

I downloaded dsb_tornadof3_32.zip to check it out & copied this from ReadMe.txt in the package.
To extend the AAR probe use Shift + W (AAR Probe will be extended on startup by default).

I tried it & all works as advertised so the fault could possibly be with your keyboard. Try assigning the water rudder to a different key from FS2004 Settings/Assignments.

Note that this is basically the FS2002 aircraft. The updated IRIS Tornado GR4 package for FS2004 is posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military137.htm

I downloaded the IRIS version to check it out, all 71 Mb of it. At first I had the same problems as you. Then I noticed there are several different variations using different visual models. The first variation on the list is the AI Only model that has no DVC or animated refuelling probe. The one in my shot works as advertised.

Hagar thanks for all your help, I still can't get it working maybe it's my keyboard most likely just me.
I've been through all the other models of the IRIS still the same result no probe and in the previous tornado,s that Ive downloaded DSB F3 and GR4 tornado the probe closes then bounces open again,
thanks everyone for all your help unless anyone can come up with a solution .

I suspect it's you. Please try again. Make sure you select any variation except the AI variation of each different model. The probe on the IRIS GR.4 is toggled by the Exit 2 command. This can be a bit tricky unless you're used to it. Press Shift + E then quickly release both keys & immediately press number 2. That's the 2 on the main keyboard & not Num Pad. You must do it quickly or the Main Exit (the canopy) will open instead. It works fine on all models & variations I've tried - except for the AI variations.

Thanks again, yes it now works fine. I just was'nt quick enough with the keys
now you have solved that one perhaps you might know why the probe on the DSB tornado F3 which is
supposed to operate with shift +w to close, shuts but springs out again any thoughts on that

Glad we finally sorted that out Mike. I can only say that the DSB F3 probe works as advertised for me. Did you try reassigning the water rudder key command?

Yes tried that no matter what key I alter it to it still bounces back open again
the key is doing the up/down motion with only the one press so what do you think

Sorry I'm fresh out of ideas. If possible I would try reassigning that command to a single key.
