Seeing and Hearing double.

Postby alb469 » Mon Mar 12, 2007 8:44 am

For some reason all of the default AI have doubled up. There are now two of the same aircraft at the same time. For example I was taxing for takeoff at CYQX to my ATC assigned runway and I followed two AI MD80s out. Listening to ATC they were the same registration and destination. All the other AIs do the same! A glitch has developed in FS9 but how to cure it. Has anyone got a fix for this problem short of turning all traffic to zero.  :-/

Hi, check out the following thing. Go to Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator/Scenery/World/Scenery. At the bottom of the directory there should be a file called traffic030528.bgl. Check if it is there. Did you install any other AI traffic package? If so there might be a conflict between them.

Thanks Crash. I found the file doubled. To my knowledge I have not installed any additional AI. It may have come in with some scenery that I put in. Have deleted the last dated one leaving the FS9 one. That should solve the prob. :)

hey that seems like good way to increase traffic at an airport... maybe copy the files 3 times and you'll have 3 times the traffic!

Yes and no. It makes it quite annoying with ATC at times. I installed a few PAI packages and have gotten double, triple, and even quadruples of many flights, causing it to be very difficult to land at some airports. I'll fix it eventually, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

An easy way to fix that is to install the PAI packages (Including the GA one) and renaming the default traffic030528.bgl to traffic030528.bak. This way you only have the much better PAI traffic flying in your sim and you get rid of annoying "double" traffic.

Well, with my school schedule over the past few weeks and what I know is coming up in the near future, I doubt I'll be doing any flying anyway, but thanks for the tip crash.

I just took the HSPA, the NJ state test required for graduating high school, had an analysis essay to do on an African-American poem, just finished a comparative essay on The Scarlet Letter[i/] and [i]The Crucible, and have a term paper in progress worth well over 50% of my grade for the 3rd and 4th quarter. In addition to that, other classes love to assign papers and labs just when I go to start my English papers (the day before/of they are due. Hey, I do my best thinking when I'm in last-minute panic mode, I  haven't gotten less than an 87% on any of my English essays this year  ;D). Also, baseball season starts in a few weeks, and I will be volenteering time to umpire at the local little league in additon to looking for a job, and having something that resembles a social life.

All this results in a total of about 40 hours of sleep a week (15 of which comes Friday and Saturday nights, assuming my freinds dont get together for a Halo marathon, then I get about 30 hours/week), which in turn results in sleep deprivation, making otherwise boring classes slightly interesting. God am I looking forward to spring break in 3 weeks.
