Game Fails to Initialize

Postby onefunkmonk » Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:57 am

I love this game but was busy with school for a while and did not play, but when I did it failed to start. I tried everything on the Microsoft Support website for "Game fails to initialize" to no avail. I must have uninstalled and reinstalled over a dozen times and still it doesn't start. All that happens on starting is two new processes show up ~e5d141.tmp and fs9.exe. After that the computer thinks for a second and then just runs those processes till I manually have to turn them off. I've tried letting them run up to an hour long and still nothing. This game played perfectly on my computer before and there are no issues with it that I know of. Can anybody tell me what to possibly try to do? I am really considering reintalling Windows here, but I hope it doesn't have to come to that.

Hi Onefunkmonk, welcome to Simviation.

As I understand you have tried to re-install FS9 and it still is having troubles starting? What version of Windows are you using?

Crash ;)

It could be your memory on your hardrive is filled up, but it also could be that one of your memory banks is borked, though i wouldnt be able to help you a lot on that.

Well I am running Win XP Home Edition SP2. More than enough memory and everything. I think some setting were messed up so I am just going to put all my files onto DVD's and run Dell System Restore. I don't think there is much else to do. Thanks for the input though.

:-[ I had this file ~e5d141.tmp. And what a problem! I noted the fact on Just Flight Forum, and got some poor comments. It is supposed to be Microvision cleaner.
The first time I noticed it,  my default flight(seattle) name changed,  was changed to >FLIGHTSIM.* The forum mentioned said donot remove it! Or big problems. I DID REMOVE IT AFTER SAVING TO DRIVE A:
My anti virus provider checked  the ~e????? and found it clean. Besides changing the default file it placed a radio mast on the runway holding area! It also changed the format of *.jepg so that you could not open them. It rendered some scenery files usless.

Having removed it, I am okay! Touch wood :exclamation

Having just read through the other comments I am reminded of another problem with this file >MEMORY loss. I kept getting an error window saying no memory clean the HD.
