GPS

Postby Dendoe » Mon Mar 05, 2007 10:18 am

H1 fellas. I have a small problem with the GPS. It's just disappeared! It was OK, but seems to have gone walkies since my last session. It applies to all aircraft. Any help much appreciated

Are you saying you can't bring it up by any means? (panel icon or assigned key press or Views menu)

Check the ..\gauges\.. folder for the file,

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the response. Yes I have tried to gain access to the GPS using the panel keys, etc but to no avail. I checked the gauge as you suggested. There is a Winzip file FS9gps present. Any more ideas?
Thanks Dendoe

There is a Winzip file FS9gps present.

That sounds right. The file should be 'fs9gps.cab' and is the container for the .xml style gauge. Winzip just identifies it as a 'Winzip' type container file.

Have you recently installed the FS9.1 update or 3rd party mods to the default GPS?

I installed the update some time ago. There has been no mods to the GPS. It just disappeared overnight! Should I try and re-install the file?

Make sure the file type is .cab and not anything else. I would replace it to see if it got corupted in some way. you can use winzip to open the file JUST DO NOT EXTRACT IT you should see a couple of files in the folder if it is empty than that is your problem. I am surprised you do not get a missing gauge error, which makes me think that something has happend to the file. 8-)

I took a copy of the File from Disc 2, and now have GPS, so it must have been corrupted. Thanks for the advice Dave. Much appreciated.
