FS2004 not loading in Wndows Vista?

Postby FozzyNOK » Thu Feb 08, 2007 7:07 am

>:( Hi folks, I just bought a brand new computer with Windows Vista. I'm generally pleased with it and the computer is fantastic! Of course I loaded CFS, 1,2, and 3 and then tried to load up fs2004. Everything went well until the very end where it was loading the Cab files for the world. It will not load them saying that the file is in use or there is no room for the file. I have 160gb on a fresh computer so that's not it. Any suggestions??? I really want to fly it on this new machine!  :P

This will teach you to use a newly made (and buggier than hell) OS. :P

Tried asking M$?

NO!!! :o

What makes you think that?! :o :o :o

;D ;D ;D

Let the beaten horse die alone and forgotten, people. Vista is a "svista" (italian for "mistake") on both M$ and user ends.

Maybe, MAYBE worth to be used in a pair of years from now. When all the most important bugs are worked out and the code will finally receive the HARD work needed to make it work on human terms and hardware.

Hear an idiot (yours truly) and remain with Xp for now. A lot less troubles. The remote possibility of maybe having slicker graphics with DX10 does not deserve and ulcer.

I'm thinking that my disk may have been screwed up or something. Just for kicks, I loaded up FS2002 and everything loaded up and runs completely fine?  :P

Here I have to say, that you cannot fix it.

You won't play it because it is not compatible with DirectX 10 (I think).

And that's one of many facts why I won't buy vista for my PC!

I'm sorry. :(

Well thats at least SOME good news! LOL

The the program compatibility thingy on Vista seems to want to help out with lots of things, it will "revert" to allow old programs to load and function somewhat, but not fully. UGH! I loaded Jane's USAF and it really was going fine.. until I tried to actually test the game out.. then it just gives me the old cyber finger and shuts down. I may go drop the cash and the the FSX :-/

Have you tried it?

Until you have, try and hear those who did. If who did try said no, it means "NO", in spite of what at the M$ headquarters say.

"It was designed for vista" doesn't mean it works under svista without the Panacea From Seattle, called The Patch.

If FSX doesn't work now, it will work after The Patch... probably worse than it does now under Xp. :P
