Postby dir » Mon Jan 29, 2007 8:17 am

Hi,

I downloaded this PA-34-200 Seneca add-on from here:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004panels29.htm
[http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=panels&file=HPPA34pn.zip]

But, how do I install it please?

I would suggest the following. For any and all addons
1). Make a folder outside of your FS folder call it what you want I use Hager for aircraft and temp_scenery for any scenery, mesh or AFCAD files.
2) Unzip the file into the folder you just made.
3) Depending upon who made the zip file you should find several files in the new folder you just made they should consist of the following folders Panel;Model;Sound and somtimes you will find a Gauge folder.
There are so many different ways people do this it is not even funny. But what you want to wind up with is one folder that has the name of the aircraft say SENECA II then inside that folder the other folders Panel,Model, and sound. You should also have a aircraft cfg file. These are the basic folders for all aircraft.
Sometimes the designer will put Gauges and sounds for the aircraft. Gauges go into the gauge folder of FS. For sounds you have to determine if they are engine sounds or other sounds that the aircraft might use such as readout sounds. Engine sounds need to go into the sound folder of the aircraft and the other sounds go into the main FS sound folder.
The above describre the basics but like I said there are many different ways in which files come. Sometimes you have to be real carefull as files are not put into any folder at all but just all clumped together.

If you look at any of the default aircraft folders within FS you should see what go inside each folder. 8-)

Hi,

I downloaded this PA-34-200 Seneca add-on from here:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004panels29.htm
[http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=panels&file=HPPA34pn.zip]

But, how do I install it please?

Hi dir. This is a Seneca panel so I assume you have an aircraft to install it to. When you unzip Hppa34pn.zip you will see two further zipfiles named gauges.zip & panel.zip. These obviously contain the panel & gauges. Extract these to the folder you're working in - right-click "Extract to folder". You should now have two folders named Gauges & Panel. The Gauges folder contains 24 x GAU files & the Panel folder 9 x BMP files + 1 x Panel.cfg.

The method I use for installing new panels is to first rename the existing Panel folder to back it up. Any name will do but I use the FS folder naming convention of Panel.0, Panel.1 etc. Then paste the new Panel folder in alongside it. You can install the new gauges by pasting the contents of the Gauges folder (in this case the 24 GAU files) either into the new Panel folder (recommended) or the FS9\Gauges folder.* (There is a sample Aircraft.cfg entry in readmefirst.txt for the radios to work properly.)

Note that this download also contains a repaint for JR Lucariny's Piper/Embraer Seneca III. You must have this specific aircraft for it to work. To install it paste the Texture.D-GEKW into your Seneca III. The new Aircraft.cfg entry is in readmefirst.txt.

*PS. When pasting gauges to FS9\Gauges do NOT overwrite files/folders if prompted.

Hey chaps, thanks for your replies.

The problem appears to be that my version of FS2K4 doesn't have a default Seneca (do any I wonder?). Previous add-ons haven't been like this one, hence my confusion.

Where do I get this Seneca aircraft you refer to Hagar? Any idea?

Hey chaps, thanks for your replies.

The problem appears to be "This is a Seneca panel so I assume you have an aircraft to install it to." -- I don't. Certainly isn't one in my FS2K4 version. Previous add-ons haven't been like this one, hence my confusion.

[I note that the author did an original Seneca here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004panels28.htm (black panel). But that too appears to have the same problem(?).]

Both those files are posted in the Panels section so will be panels only & not the complete aircraft.

Where do I get the Seneca aircraft required to run this (P29 version) panel please? Any idea?

If you want the original Seneca III those panels are intended for it's posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props52.htm
It's in the FS2002 section but should work in FS9.

You can try to look under the aircraft folder in simvation or
Try the following www.avsim.com
you will have to register to download anything but it is free this site is one of the best sites for FSDOWNLOADS by far. You can use the advance search method to search for any thing by any author. it will allow the use of wild cards to look for specific files [EXAMPLE say you want a SENECA II just type the words SENCA* and check FS2004 aircraft it will display any SINECA aircraft] 8-)

There is a freeware addon Seneca for FS2004:

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004props135.htm

Don't know if the panel works with it though.
300,000 KM/S - Its not just a good idea, its the law.
