MSFS 2004

Postby burt13 » Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:57 am

Hi, After purchasing and loading all 4 cds of this game I find that after starting up there are a couple links such as News and Flying Lessons which sends me back to the desk top repeatedly. Just joined this sight which looks like the better place to get this game info. Started with MSflight 2002 but wish to have 2004 work for me since this is my preferred pc game. My pc: XP SP2Home,Pentium4,1.80GHz,512MB of Ram,GeForce FX 5200. Have seen MS updates to this game but something is still amiss. Thanks for any help here.

Hi Burt,

Welcome to SimV. As you would have seen this forum has pages and pages dedicated to FS2004, and many users happy to help.

Is there a particular problem you're having with FS2004 at the moment? If so, let us know exactly what it is, and I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Charlie :)

Did you download the FS9.1 patch? that solved some problems.

Hi Burt. I just checked this out as I've never tried clicking those options before. All works fine for me without the FS9.1 patch. The Flying Lessons link is to ordinary HTML files. Look in the FS9\FSweb\Lessons folder & double-click on the file named Lessons_index_mainframe.htm. This should open it in your browser.

The News link is to the Microsoft FS Insider site. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/default.asp

PS. The lessons are FLT files in the Flight Simulator 9\Lessons folder.

computer tells me that FS9\FSweb is not a valid folder.

The FSweb folder is in the FS9 root directory, where the familiar Aircraft, Gauges, Scenery & Texture folders are. The full default path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\FSweb. A search for FSweb should find it. If it's definitely not there you will probably need to reinstall FS9.

Found FSweb folder in search. After clicking it took me to Flying Lessons website. This Flying Lessons web site link after start up of MSFS is what keeps sending me back to desk top. Thanks for your time on this prob. Am so anxious to get MSFS off the ground. I can link thru all links after start up except the one mentioned above.

Not exactly a website. Those files are in HTML format which should open in your default browser even if you're not connected to the Internet. I can't think why this should cause problems.
