Unable to get downloaded planes to be recognized

Postby tomcatter » Tue Jan 16, 2007 3:22 pm

Ok, I am new here but I am not new to computers. So, I can't use FSX because of system requirements. Instead, I figured I may as well try FS2004:COF. I found your website where you can download all of the extra planes and use them. So I downloaded a few and tried it out. I did it twice and not one single plane got recognized. I followed the directions verbatim and they did not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think we need to know here, are you trying to download fsx planes to fs9?

No I am not. I went under the FS2004 section and downloaded them from there...I looked for hours.

I already double checked that anyways. :)

Hi Tomcatter,

Welcome to Simviation,

Did you download a complete aircraft or only the textures? If it is a complete aircraft please tell us which aircraft you downloaded. If you downloaded only the textures, did you put it in the right folder and did you change the aircraft.cfg?

Crash ;)

Ok the plane that I downloaded and installed was the F-14 (FS2004 Grumman F-14B Tomcat). Then I downloaded the recommended Panel Upgrade in the same box. I un-rar'ed the two zip files, copied them into the correct directory and then they should be ready to fly, correct? If I still need to do more, then I missed the instructions originally.

Tomcatter. I've been in a thread where a freind had the same problem with f14b as you have now. If i'm fast i can find it before you, but we can try to run.
Cheers.

Just installed the F14B and panel update. No problems. Working fine. Try to install the aircraft step by step, you might have missed something.

You might want to check out this part of this website:

http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

Maybe it'll help. Let us know if it worked.

Crash ;)

Ok guys. Thanks for all of your help. I finally, after several different tries, got it to work. Also, I have added several other planes and they work fine as well. Thanks again for all of your help. Tally Ho!

I can't get anything to install without an auto-installer. The tute for this seems to be over my head. I just now attempted to put an SR-71 into the sim. I see it listed in the available aircraft that comes up after lebben-teen clicks, which gets you deep into the FS9 files, but it isn't in the list where you go to actually select an airplane to fly under Create a Flight. How can I be the only person in all the world who can't do this? I put out a request for telephone help on my nickel, but nobody had the cajones to respond. So sad...

The error was mine. I installed the folder correctly, just did not unpack enough. So, with the investigative happenings, I found my error and solved it. :)
