Flattex program

Postby hsvfan » Mon Jan 15, 2007 4:00 am

Hi all
I have downloaded flattex to exlude some senery items.
In the read me file it states that all your scenery appears on the right hand box. For some reason none of my addon scenery appears just the default scenery. How do I get my addon scenery to appear

Cheers

I dont know this software, but I would imagine that it is looking in the main Scenery folder and that your Add-on scenery is in another folder. Mine is mainly in a folder called 'Addon scenery' try navigating using the software or have a look with windeow explorer to find it first then point the software in the right direction.

Thanks Reap

The program is supposed to generate all scenery entries. There is no way to navigate to the add-on scenery folder
hopefully someone can shed some light on the problem

Cheers

I just checked this out & it seems to work very well. It reads the Scenery.cfg entries for all installed scenery but I think it will only list 3rd party scenery with its own menu entries. In the case of FS9 this will be the AF2 BGL files produced by AFCAD2. Older scenery might not be listed.

It would be just as easy to forget that feature & edit Scenery.cfg manually. Make sure you take a back-up copy first.

Read the instructions with Flattex.

HOW TO USE IT
-------------

1. Start FS and go to a place that you want to flatten or in which you want to remove objects

2. In "Map view" set "Heading" to "0" (zero) in order to point to North.

3. Start FlattEx (you can start FlattEx even before or after FS, it's the same)

4. Enter "Down view" (Ctrl+S) and "Slew mode" (Y)

5. Move your aircraft into the North/West corner of the area you want to flatten or clean (up/left corner)

6. Switch to FlattEx and click the "NW" button: current latitude and longitude will be captured from FS and displayed by FlattEx.

7. Switch to FS again and move your aircraft to the South/East corner of the area (down/right corner)

8. Switch to FlattEx and click the "SE" button: current latitude and longitude will be captured from FS and displayed by FlattEx.

9. Now position your aircraft in a place having the altitude you want (i.e. on the runway of the airport)

10. Switch to FlattEx and click the "Ground Altitude" button: the gound altitude too will be captured from FS

11. Now you have enough data to produce a "Rectangular Flatten" line or an "Exclude" line: simply press the "Generate SCENERY.CFG Line" button, then copy the generated line to the clipboard and paste it to the SCENERY.CFG file.

12. Restart FS when done.

I wish there was something that simple that made working .BGL files instead. One program I found boasted this ability, but it was an empty boast. It gave errors at every step; and IF it worked, it made no BGL; and the only time it made a .BGL out of my attempts, said .BGL didn't work at all. [smiley=evil.gif]

There is. It works in much the same way as Flattex. I can't find it at SimV. ExcBuilder v2.0

Thanks for the tip, shame I was talking exactly of THIS program. [smiley=happy.gif]

Never been able to make it work. Maybe it's my fault, but it NEVER wanted to do what I asked of it. :(

Pity.

HI,
I am having the same problem with the exclude function in flattex.
So apart from these programs that claim to remove senery objects are you able to enter a line in the scenery cfg file that will do the trick and if so what information is required and,  where in the sceney cfg do you enter the line
