I heard that seeting visiblity to 30 miles is more realistic and imporve FPS Ok I'm stupid how do I do that. lol :-?

Start the sim go to settings/display/weather there is a slider top left to set visibility. As for the other question, I don't know. I hope this helps

For added realism edit fs9.cfg this way:
MAX_UNLIMITED_VIS=48280
Be aware, though, that if you later edit *any* display parameter in FS9, this value will revert to 96560.

i think your getting visual range on the pc, and visibility mixed up. the slider your talking about is lowering the distance at witch the computer draws the landscape. visibility is the weather so for fog and haze you need to do that with the weather settings

On a rather nice day 60+ miles distance is certainly viewable from as little as 5000ft.
Charlotte NC can be viewed from the air over Hickory NC, it is about 52 miles straight line. I can't see the buildings from that distance, but I can easily tell where the city is.
Pikes Peak comes into view from over 130miles away on Interstate 25 south.
20-30 miles max distance would be a fairly hazy day.

I just tried your settings to see what would happen. No offense but this is far from realistic. This is more like a very hazy day. A day when the sky looks white, not blue.
I setup a flight from KHKY and couldn't even see the Blue Ridge Mountains from over the airport. In real life we can see the mountains perfectly fine, snow caps and all from the tarmac at KHKY. Grandfather mountain is 50miles away (and you would never realise it is that far away when looking at it). Even today with hazy conditions and some clouds I can see it find, standing on the ground.
So I have to disagree with these settings being correct.
The facts show otherwise. I mean if Pikes Peak is visible from over 130miles away while on the ground, common sense tells you can see even further from the air.
I guess it is a matter of taste, but I can say without a doubt it isn't realistic to limit the view in the sim that much. I normally have mine set to 110miles and that is far closer to what I see when flying around in a real 172.
LOL. I can hear the instructor now. While doing a pre-flight walkaround:
The Instructor: Wow the mountains are sure beautiful today.
The student: What Mountains.
The Instructor (while scratching his head): Uh, I think I will fly as PIC today.

Then try a higher setting. The point is, you *can* set the visibility lower than the FS9 default, and AFAIK that is the only method not involving FSUIPC.
As for the realism of such a setting, I'd be interested in others' opinions too; I'm not sure everyone would find a visibility lower than 60 miles unrealistic.

"Sight Distance" is the maximum distance that you can see with unlimited visibility in your weather settings.


Here is an example of unlimited visibility at 10,000ft.



This is 30mi (weather) visibility at the same altitude.
