Strange AI

Postby murjax » Wed Dec 27, 2006 1:47 pm

A few months ago, I was flying around and I was watching a jet on final to land and it missed. I watched it go around and land but then I saw another one do the same thing. What causes the AI to do that?

dont know, but I think its nice that AI does some errors, too. Adds some realism! ;)

It is possiable for AI to do touch and go's if you set it up that way you can have a flight do several touch and go's and then land and taxi to the ramp. 8-)

AI does "Go Arounds" frequently. Although one can set AI up to do touch and go's the real reason is separation on finals. This is a real shortcoming with respect to real ATC who's principal reason for existance is controlling separation in ATZ's.  I use an add on called AI separation which puts all the AI at respectable distances from each other and you.
There's nothing worse than ATC giving you clearance to land and then having to watch an AI overtake you on finals and force you to go around.

I don't use the term AI- I call it AD- Artificial Dumbness

Use a program called aismooth- download it here---> http://www.tradewind.org/TCA/website/store.htm

just a little ways down the page

Did both planes have the same flight number? Because it often happens that AI-planes duplicate themselve. Sometimes they are two of the same, maybe even three or four! When the first one landed, the second one - really close to the first one - has to go around.

Is that your problem?

I had this kind of problem and fixed it somehow...

But I watched my F16 trying to do the Touch&Go at Area51, missing the runway and landing on the gorund next to the runway...

AI-Traffic, a contradiction itself... :)

I honestly don't know because this was months ago. I don't usually fly just by myself. I like to fly multiplayer so I don't see much happen with AI too often.  :)

In case you are bored and flying alone next time:

Press ctrl+w (i guess) and watcso you can watch your AI.

If you see a plane flying next to the one you're watching, ... blahdiblah, you know what I mean ^^

That often happens when you're installing a new AI-Traffic...
