Slewing

Postby garymbuska » Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:41 pm

Ok now who knows why is it when you slew some aircraft on the ground to reposistion it after taking the sim out of slew the aircraft goes hurtling down the ramp and if you are parked in front of a terminal it will crash into it. I have only seen it happen on a few of my downloaded aircraft.  Is there a way to stop this from happening.

Press F1 before you exit 'slew' - this will plonk your aircraft firmly back on terra-firma.

Cheers,

Pressing f1 makes since but I still wonder why it only does this on some aircraft and not all of them. I wonder if it has anything to do with the contact points of each plane. :-/

On some planes you need to be VERY careful that it has all the wheels on tight contact with the ground before releasing the slew, or they'll make a mess, on others there's a bigger slack and they behave a little less wildly. Your guess is good as mine on the why. I remember that in FS2002 there was a way to make so that a plane released from slew would not accelerate and would instead behave like in FS98 (where the release from the slew caused invariably the plane to fall like a rock), but for the life of me can't remember what this way was nor have any idea if it works under FS9.
There's but one real cure for human stupidity. It's called DEATH.

this may sound obvious, but make ABSOLUTELY sure you haven't got your airplane moving. i do this all the time when designing scenery. simply look at the data at the top of the screen. there is a speed gauge there. merry christmas!
